Gonet Academy Graduates 68 Students in Professional Skills Following Intensive Training

MONROVIA – Gonet Academy, a leading digital and in-person education platform has graduated over 68 students in various professional disciplines after an intensive two-month training.

Gonet, an acronym for Global Opportunities Network, is a registered education organization based in Monrovia and accredited by the Ministry of Education, Liberia. The organization provides training and capacity building programs and services to equip people, schools and organizations with 21st century soft skills and in-demand career advancement and professional development courses.

The disciplines include Project Management, Monitoring and Evaluation, Procurement and Contract Management, Public Speaking, Entrepreneurship and Business Management, among others.

The guest speaker, Dr. Clarence Moniba inspired the graduates to always strive for excellence. Dr. Moniba said there are three stages in one’s life- the past, present and the future. And the most important of them all is the future. Now that the graduates have acquire knowledge, it is incumbent on them to transform what they learned to better their lives and impact their country.

“You have given yourself an opportunity to be better. The one thing I want you take, beside the skills and knowledge that Gonet has given you, is to understand that for Liberia to be better tomorrow, it is you that can make it better,” a presidential candidate in Liberia’s upcoming elections.

Speaking at the ceremony, the Chief Executive Officer of Gonet Academy, Mohammed Kerkulah said the organization was founded in 2021. Since them, Kerkulah said GonetAfrica has so far impacted over 1500 young people, students, teachers, entreprenéurs, business owners and organizations’ executives of which 95% are Liberians. This marked the 4th graduation ceremony, he said.

“These impacts have been made through our węll-structured training, capacity building and educational programs and services in public speaking, leadership, career, entrepreneurship, business, project management, our school transformation programs,” he said.

This year, he said Gonet has made significant strides- the enrollment of more students, securing an office space and winning contracts from UNDP and Bea Mountain Mining Company to train rural entrepreneurs in the Southeast and Grand Cape Mount County respectively.

He thanked the graduates for their decision to enroll at Gonet.

“I want to appreciate this class because lot of them came when we were developing the office. And they were not discouraged. They stayed with us and today they are graduating with flying-colors. Now the office is complete and we are committed to keep building until the place is transformed,” he said.

The Gonet CEO announced that in the next month, the organization will launch Liberia’s first full fledge online learning platform.

This will give many Liberians including students and professionals living outside of Monrovia the opportunity to enroll and sharpen their skills.

“Liberia’s first online learning platform will be launched in the next one month. Like several online platforms, we are going to work with professionals at every sector and they are going to learn at their own pace. This platform will give those outside of Monrovia the opportunity to learn online.

Continuing, he said: “Just as we are doing now, we offer simple-design training courses and services with seasoned facilitators to enable students and mid-level professionals gain the necessary skills for employability, productivity and to run their businesses or organizations purposefully and effectively. We create a memorable learning experience for our participants through practical, yet fun activities to enhance their daily and lifetime reflection for continuous improvement.”
